ready…set…wow

Last year I fumbled through the mail on my daily trip home from the mail box.  It takes approx. 13 steps to get back to the house and usually by step 5 I’ve determined the sucess of the mission, sorting the bills out from the junk.
What I love about the holidays is we get cards.  Lots o’ cards.  I love getting mail so it adds excitement to my day.  This day was special.  I held a card.  The envelope texture was warm and creamy.  The handwriting… well I was dumbfounded.  It was hand written… or was it?  It was magnificent!!!  I stopped at step 7 probabally and just held the envelope in my hands.  It was the most thoughful envelope I have ever received.  Not to dissappoint me the card was equally amazing.  A simple design of a christmas tree with brush strokes so purposeful it looked like Hallmark but hand made.  The expensive kind that you ponder.  How is this made.  It’s the only card I didn’t make for someone that I saved.  I save the envelope too.  ( if I could put my hands on it I would scan it for you )… it’s boxed up for now.  It was amazing and I felt so pampered holding it.

My personal Christmas cards are nearly in.  Photographing family…blast…designing card…LOVE IT… hand addressing envelopes…well all I can say is hand cramp.
Mostly I hate it because my handrighting sucks.   That’s right I said it.  If I used that paticular adjective you know it must be bad cause I don’t generally talk like that.
Well this year I have the perfect solution and I’m inviting all my friends to join me.

Crop Paper Scissors is featuring my friend Jeanne ( who addressed that envelope & who’s son made before mentioned card ).  She is an AWESOME caligrapher to come show us wanna bee’s a thing or two.  The cool thing with Jeanne is you can bring your crayola markers and she can show you how to make amazing designs, letters, gift tags, cards (and whatever else she has in her magic hat)… useing what you already have.  And who can’t use a little creative boost in making cards & gift tags & learn some pretty darn cool amazing handwriting tricks in the process.
Jeanne actually teaches calligraphy at a Mary Harddin Baylor (did i mispell that?) and just designed something amazing for a display in a new Baylor building. (pardon my lack of details)  She’s practically famous, spent time with a White House calligrapher last year and is super cool, sweet and really a lot of fun!!!
Now, for all you who just spent big bucks for Stephens Photography Custom Christmas Cards, finish your card off with envelope flair!  Nothing says I care more than the final detail of a fine handwritten address…  (and you can pay her to do it too if your too busy).
It’s November 8 th 6-9 at Crop, Paper, Scissors.  The cost is $20.00 so grab your life groups, make it a girls night and I’ll meet you there for a fun time!!!
