Years ago we went home for Thanksgiving. My family makes a true feast of Thanksgiving and there’s a small element of family showmanship with new recipies, and clever dishes. We all love to introduce our tastebuds to fresh new tastes, and each new year we are never disappointed.
Well back to years ago. My brother- in – law and I LOVE pumpkin pie. It’s our personal favorite. My earliest memories of the famous November Thursdays revolves around pumpkin pie. One year the two of us ate three pies in a pie eating contest… ( I was a teenager and I beat him proudly ).
Well my husband finds the kitchen relaxing and surprised me with a double layer cream cheese pumpkin pie! Cream cheese in my book ought to be a food catagory on the pyramid. We were newly weds and he made this delicious pumpkin pie. It made him famous in my family and every year when we go down for holidays they ask in advance for Donald’s double layer pumpkin pie.
Fast forward to September of this year. The kids are in school, the weather hints at changing to fall and the kids ask, “Daddy, will you make us a pumpkin pie?” to which he promply heads to the store for some sweet pie ingredients. He’s made it twice now and it’s a sliver of heaven on earth.
I googled the recipie for you to try yourself. I can’t promise it will make you famous in your family… but it will make you grow if you eat to much!!!

[...] Double Layer Pumpkin Pie [...]
that definately looks a lot better than my fake pie!
wonder what happens if ya use the pumpkin pie flavored pudding instead of vanilla. might overdo it with the spices though on top of that.
I think the pumpkin might overwhelm my taste buds. It’s pretty tatesty all on it’s own.
Since you don’t like the texture of pie I’d be curious to hear your thoughts after eating this one.
You could make it in a pyrex baking dish and skip the crust all together.
I’m now going to look for those pudding/jello flavors. Thanks for the tip.
i actually couldnt find them at the major grocery chain here…. originally got them at superwalmart.
